Assistant Manager – Full-Time

Hours: 5 days per week, Monday to Sunday on a roster basis. Applicants must be 18 or over.

Main Purpose of the Role:

To ensure the store operates efficiently, providing our customers with the very best service and fresh food offering in a clean, safe environment. You will help deliver key store targets (sales and profitability) through effective management of people and operations.

Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management position
  • Level 1 and Level 2 knowledge of food safety
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Working knowledge of the CBE system is desirable
  • Excellent communication and delegation skills
  • Highly driven with a strong work ethic
  • Understanding of how to achieve KPIs and targets
  • Commercial awareness and brand understanding
  • Passion for grocery retail
  • Thrive in a fast-paced working environment
Main Duties:
  • Ensure customer satisfaction is the top priority at all times
  • Maintain merchandising and presentation of the store to the highest standard, in line with store planograms and guidelines
  • Assist the Store Manager in developing and training the team to meet SuperValu Retail Excellence and I-CARE Service Excellence standards
  • Support the Store Manager in the smooth running of the store by prioritising and delegating workloads
  • Lead by example, fostering teamwork and a positive work atmosphere
  • Support staff management, including rostering, timekeeping, and annual leave
  • Manage employee performance, giving regular feedback, recognition, and encouragement
  • Ensure the company GOLD system reflects an accurate picture of performance
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety, alcohol sale, and employment legislation
  • Set, monitor, and achieve sales targets with the team on gross profit margin, net margin, waste, and other KPIs as agreed with the Store Manager
